I began working with G. in elementary school when he was an angry young man due to difficulties at home. In High School he missed many days and fell behind on credits. In his Senior Year, G. experienced a home invasion and was shot in the arm. Later, G’s Mom became very ill due to complications of alcoholism and dropped classes to help care for her during her final months. Following her death, and in his sorrow, G. chose not to have his anger direct his life and made a choice to manage it and look at its stem. He also committed to being a better man by committing to graduating on time and being a leader for others He did this, graduated, and it was an honor to be along his side as he successfully navigated a difficult time.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

You can’t do everything but you can be proud of what you do.

This is one of the greatest jobs in the world for ‘we get to’ facilitate magic for our young people, their families, and our community as a whole.
