Poverty. Abuse. Neglect. Unstable home environment. These are challenges that would cripple many people. But not Rachel. These setbacks only fueled her forward. Prior to graduating from North High School with a 3.0 GPA, Rachel served as a youth leader at the Boys and Girls Club, a mentor with the Bridge Program, was actively involved in Minds Matter, and Colorado Uplift. “Rachel understands the importance of education as a catalyst to a successful career and better life. She is living proof that, with determination and knowledge and a lot of hard work, one can overcome life’s obstacles,” said her Denver Kids mentor, Sarah Moore. Today, Rachel is a freshman at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
