How many years have you worked in education or direct service?

When did you join Denver Kids?

July 2013

What age group(s) do you serve?

Grade School, Middle School, High School

What do you enjoy most about working with the students you serve?

The ability to watch my students grow and challenge themselves to be the best version of themselves. I appreciate their strength and willingness to overcome obstacles in spite of the many challenges they face every day.

Describe a student outcome or success that you are most proud of.

There are several students on my caseload that have struggled with their behavior in school and because of our relationship and the trust they have in me we have been able to work together to arrive at solutions to help them improve. They have not only gained skills on anger management and stress relief, such as breathing exercises, but also committed to practicing them and applying them in different areas of their life.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be patient and know that what you are doing for students will impact them positively in some shape or form.

Education has been a powerful tool in my life that has helped me overcome many challenges as well as exposed me to different experiences and opportunities that otherwise I would have never had. I want to be able to help my students understand the power in education and how it can potentially impact their lives as well if they just take advantage of it.
