Volunteering & Mentoring
Denver Kids pairs students in our program with adult mentors who help provide them with support, guidance, and exposure to new experiences. Mentors and Educational Counselors work closely to address each student’s unique needs, challenges, and goals. Mentor activities may include movies, concerts, plays, ball games, museums, parks, college campus visits and more. Following screening and approval, our professional counseling staff provides mentors with ongoing resources and training to help ensure their student relationships are successful and rewarding.
While we require a one-year minimum commitment, the average length of a mentor match is 4.5 years.
I have been matched with my mentor for 12 years and there’s no end to what he has helped me accomplish. He has helped me grow into the young man I am and influenced me as if he were a father figure.
